As a Post Doctoral Research Associate in the ARC Industry Laureate Fellowship program, ‘Safe Keeping: Effecting solutions for risk to remote Indigenous heritage’, led by Professor Robyn Sloggett, you'll play a crucial role in safeguarding remote Indigenous heritage. You'll have the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research, develop innovative solutions, and work closely with Indigenous communities. Your work will directly contribute to unlocking the economic and social value of these irreplaceable cultural resources, while building skills and generating opportunities for Australia's future generations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead Innovative Research: Conduct high-quality research on Indigenous heritage conservation, risk analysis, and asset management.
- Develop Practical Solutions: Create assessment tools and management strategies to address risks to remotely located Indigenous collections.
- Collaborate with Indigenous Partners: Engage in two-way education practices with Indigenous communities to ensure culturally appropriate research outcomes.
- Contribute to Academic Output: Publish research findings in academic papers and present at conferences and seminars.
- Supervise and Mentor: Assist in co-supervising research higher degree students and contribute to the program's vibrant research culture.
You may be a great fit if:
You are a dedicated researcher with a PhD in cultural materials conservation or a related field, possessing strong cross-cultural literacy and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment to drive innovative solutions for Indigenous heritage preservation.
You may also:
- Have completed or are near completion of a PhD in cultural materials conservation or a related field.
- Demonstrate expertise in areas related to Indigenous cultural heritage, conservation, or sustainable development.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Have experience in developing and completing research projects with limited supervision.
- Show a willingness to work in a collaborative research team and contribute to a positive research culture.
- Demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
